New Year in Georgia

Day 1 (30 December): Tbilisi - Mtskheta - Mukhrani - Tbilisi

We spend the first morning of the trip in historical Mtskheta. Mtskheta is the ancient capital and religious center of Georgia. 
In Mtskheta, we will visit the UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Jvari Monastery built in the 6th century and the beautiful Svetitskhoveli Cathedral.
From Jvari Monastery there is an amazing panoramic view of the city at the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers.
Later we will visit Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, which is the largest historical building in Georgia among the survivors and leaves a great impression on the visitor.
We visit a typical Georgian family for lunch and taste a variety of Georgian cuisine. The pre-Christmas mood will be especially felt when visiting a local family.
We can become an accomplice of this pleasant preparation and prepare New Year’s sweets – Gozinaki together with the hosts. Gozinaki is a Georgian sweet made of honey and walnuts. 
We will taste Gozinaki and continue our way to the fabulous Chateau Mukhrani. 
We will see the old palace in the European chateau.
After visiting the cellar we will taste the premium wines made by synthesis of traditional Georgian wine technology and classic method.
In the evening we will walk in the beautifully decorated streets of Tbilisi.

 

Day 2 (31 December): Tbilisi

After a late breakfast, we start our Tbilisi sightseeing tour to get acquainted with the city. Walking through the historical part of the city and enjoying the unique combination of cultures.
Meandering through the narrow streets of the city we will come-across various religious buildings: Churches, Synagogues, Mosques, Wooden houses built in the 19th century with colourful balconies, sulphur baths, the Narikala fortress.
Next, we take in the Georgian National Museum, where a great many intricate Georgian treasures are preserved.
In the evening we will walk on Rustaveli Avenue, which is fabulously decorated for the New Year.
Let’s taste the unique Georgian wine, which will add more magic to the new year. The clock strikes twelve against the backdrop of a beautiful, colourful firework display and a festive celebration.
We will greet New Year with locals. The overall festive mood is especially felt here and blurs the line between locals and foreign visitors. The elevated mood will continue at the Georgian feast.

 

Day 3 (1 January): Tbilisi - Sighnaghi - Tbilisi

In the morning we take the road to the Kakheti region. This side of Georgia is considered the homeland of wine. However, apart from winemaking, Kakheti is distinguished by monuments of different periods and diverse nature.
Here we will visit the fortified town Sighnaghi, which leaves a special impression with its beautiful streets and distinctive natural location. We will walk along the cobbled streets with colourful houses and balconies, enjoy the amazing view of the snow-capped Caucasus Mountains and the vast valley of Alazani.
A visit to Kakheti is incomplete without a local family lunch. The tradition of generously hosting guests is further intensified in the New Year.
On the 1st January, every Georgian family has a festive supper, which is uniquely abundant and varied.
We can taste special Georgian dishes, which are prepared only for the New Year. Wine, which has already been recognised by the world, is harmoniously combined with traditional cuisine.
The special first day of the New Year ends late in the evening in Tbilisi.

 

Day 4 (2 January): Tbilisi - Gudauri - Tbilisi

Today we are going to see the greatness of the Great Caucasus. We will follow the Georgian Military Road, which is one of the most spectacular routes in Georgia. 
We will continue the road from Gudauri with a cable car (Closed Cabin). The amazing panorama of the Great Caucasus unfolds from the gondolas.
On the way to Tbilisi we will see Ananuri complex. The beautiful fusion of Zhinvali Reservoir and Ananuri Complex is really impressive.
Our fabulous New Year in Georgia ends with this beautiful view.
