Blog - West USA Roadtrip
A roadtrip through California is quite possibly one of the best roadtrips you could take in your life. I spent 2 weeks recently on a roadtrip to Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Ventura County and finally finishing in San Francisco. There is so much to do and see in all of these places, so being orgainised and researching is the best thing you can do before taking on a trip like this. Get advice from your travel agent such as Benchmark Tours who will be able to provide you with ideas and do some of your own reseach online. Keep checking our blogs too, as we are constantly adding trip reviews and travel guides.
Our first destination of the trip was Vegas, if you can, take a direct flight from the UK to Las Vegas McCarran Airport, airlines such as Virgin Atlantic fly a couple of times a week direcly which takes about 10 hours. We landed at 2pm and headed straight to The Siganture at MGM Grand, this apart-hotel complex is part of the famous MGM Grand Hotel & Casino which is where we stayed for 4 nights. It really is luxury in the middle of the desert, the junior suites are huge and most have a balcony overlooking the strip or pool.
Over the next 4 days we went to see some amazing sights, the first big trip was an excursion to The Grand Canyon via helicopter. We were picked up at our hotel at 5.30am with a transfer to Boulder City Airport which is where the flights to The Grand Canyon depart from. You can see why this is on many peoples bucket lists, the views from the helicopter were truly unbelievable. We flew over Boulder City, Mojave Desert, Hoover Dam and Lake Mead before finally decending into the canyons and landing for our brunch with champagne inside the Grand Canyon West Rim.
